Platter's Chocolate Factory is thrilled to extend our heartfelt thanks to each person who participated in one way or another in our 6th Annual Sponge Candy 5k making it a success. We were able to raise over $10,000, which will go a long way in supporting the incredible work of the Special Olympics New York.

This year, we were able to work with Special Olympics NY, Inc., an organization nominated and chosen by team members of Platter’s Chocolate Factory. Thank you, Ava, Meghan and Phil! Each of them volunteered with Special Olympics and supported the mission:

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

With the combination of the 1-mile fun walk and our 5k race, we had an amazing turnout of 315 participants. We would also like to thank our sponsors for the race, Encompass Engineering, Boulevard Family Dental, Wurlitzer Events, Fattey Beer Co. – Wurlitzer, Niagara Choice Federal Credit Union, New Day Coffee, Pellicano’s and Toby Treasures. Thank you for helping us make this day possible! 

The success of this event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our participants and the unwavering support of our community. Your collective effort has a lasting impact on the lives of those with intellectual disabilities, promoting the values of inclusivity and empowerment. We hope to see you back next year!
