Nestled in the heart of North Tonawanda, Platter's Chocolate Factory isn't just a paradise for chocolate, ice cream, and coffee lovers, it's also home to one of the sweetest mascots in town: Sammy Sponge! With a brown soft silky exterior, big eyes, and a smile that can win over anyone, Sammy has become an icon synonymous with the joy Platter's brings to the community.

This July, at Platter’s Chocolate Factory, we are gearing up to celebrate our beloved Sammy Sponge. Born on July 16^th, in North Tonawanda New York, Sammy will be turning 7 this year. Have you met Sammy Sponge? As the official mascot of Platter’s Chocolate Factory, he is a life size chocolate covered piece of sponge candy!

FUN FACT ALERT! We manufacture over fifty tons of sponge candy each year! Covering it in milk, dark, orange, and white chocolate. We even cover it in peanut butter! 

Sammy joins us at events such as the Monday night car shows, our Sponge Candy 5k “Run for Sponge”, and of course when Santa and the Easter bunny come to visit.

One of his other favorite events is attending the Buffalo Bisons Baseball games when they play at home on Sunday. This is kid's day in the ballpark where they have numerous activities for children. We recommend staying after the game and going right on the field to run the bases. As you round third base Sammy will be there with high fives!

He even holds his own event, “Reading with Sammy”, where we invite children to come and have a story read to them by Sammy and his handler. This is one of his favorite events as he loves to see all the children afterward for pictures, hugs, and high-fives! 

What is his most exciting event is his birthday celebration! He invites all the children across the entire globe to join him each year for fun and activities right here at Platter’s Chocolate Factory! This is an event you will not want to miss! Sammy invited a few special friends to do face paintings and his other friend to make cool balloons for the children to take home. We even sing Happy Birthday and have cake too!
